I am fine today.
One of my nieces is very concerned about her acne (pimples) problem. She wanted to see a dermatologist (skin specialist). There are so many dermatologists available here, which one to see? I asked her to visit some discussion forums on the internet to see which doctor is good in treating acne.
Through the discussion forum, she managed to identify a very popular dermatologist here. His clinic was packed with people when she went to see him about two weeks ago.
“How many percentages you want your acne to be cured? 70% or 98%?” the dermatologist asked. Of course my niece chose 98%. Doctor told her that taking antibiotic, which is cheaper, will treat only 70% of her acne. Since she would like to be 98% cured, he prescribed her Roaccutane. Doctor told her that this drug is derived from Vitamin A and the side effect of taking the drug is dry skin and possibly elevated level of cholesterol. It may also causes major birth defects if taken during pregnancy. He did not charge consultant fee. He only charged the fee of Roaccutane which cost RM200 per month and even give away skin lotion to my niece free of charge :-)
When I checked for her the side effects of the drug, I almost “terpelanting” (fell flat on the floor).
To be continued and see you next post :-)
