Day +1882 : Root Canal Therapy - First Session

I am fine today.

I completed first session of root canal therapy on Monday. The session lasted for about one hour. The dentist gave me local anesthetic during the procedure and I didn't feel much pain.

I didn't know much about what the dentist was doing throughout the whole process until today when I searched and read about the process.

The dentist drilled open the tooth, and used a endo file (the tool with a blue handle on the right third picture below) to remove the pulp and nerve. So the tooth is "dead" after the treatment. It is then filled temporarily with a softer filling material until the next visit in which it will be replaced with a harder and permanent filling.

The next visit was scheduled on next Monday. Hopefully, the tooth will perform well for a long time :-)

The detail about the treatment is available here.

Day +1880 : Cempedak again

I am fine today.

My wife and I visited the night market at Setia Alam before attending the talk on depression last Saturday. We came across a store selling very attractive cempedak; with big seed and thick pulp. It was something irresistible. I chose one weighing about 5kg with a cost of RM24.

"Could it be rotten?" I asked.

"No, if you don't believe, I can open it for you to check," the hawker answered.

I trusted him and that was a terrible decision.

When I opened it next day, the seeds were of excellent quality but they were "guarded" by an army of energetic worms, jumping and flying here and there :-( I had no choice but to dump it.

I wonder what would happen if I didn't purchase this cempedak. The hawker might proceed frying it, perhaps together with the worms, and sell them to the customer. Who know his thick and delicious fried cempedak is enhanced with worms?

Day +1879 : PCAC 14th Anniversary Celebration

I am fine today.

Our church, Puchong Christian Alliance Centre, celebrated its 14th anniversary today. All church members were invited to Cheong Wah Seafood Restaurant for lunch after the church service. There were about 100 adults and children attended the lunch.

I have been attending and serving the church since 1998; second year it was established. It is a blessing to see the church grows from a few members in the beginning to over 100 now. I pray that the church will be able to reach out to more people, serving them and bringing the hope of Christ to them in the time to come.

Day +1878 : A talk on depression

I am fine today.

Our church in Setia Alam organised a talk on depression this evening. The speaker is Dr. John Tan. He is a psychiatrist who is practicing on his own now.

He came to our church in Puchong on 12 March this year. I blogged about it on "Day +1711 : A talk on depression". The content of the talk was more or less the same as the previous.

About 30 audience turned up for the talk. The talk helps us to understand better the depression - its symptom, diagnosis and treatment.

We will engage Dr. John Tan for more talks in future.

Day +1877 : Holiday!

I am fine today.

The seminary will be having two weeks semester break starting from today. This is the moment I am waiting for :-)

I have a lot of assignments need to be completed, and I hope I can finish some of them, if not all, in the holiday.

I reached home at 8:30pm only today as I gave a two hours Greek tuition class to my classmates in the afternoon. Kah Kiong was my assistant. We need to have a few more sessions after the break to help our classmates to cope with the subject. We will render our best effort to assist them to pass the subject. Teaching what we know is not a burden; it is having fun in fact.

I have now completed 25% of my study :-)

Day +1876 : A lorry full of cempedak

I am fine today.

On the way from Kampung Jawa to Kesas Highway after enjoying the lunch last Sunday, we met someone selling cempedak on the roadside. I like cempedak. It was too hard for me not to stop and had a look. And after having a look, it was too hard for me not to buy one. In the end, I bought one weighing about 5kg with a price of RM14.

The guy promised me it was a good one, but when we opened it at home, we found out that it was not good; with small seed and "skinny" pulp :-( I should ask the guy to open it to prove what he said.

The guy told me it was full the day before

My maid said this guy looked like cempedak. Everyone agreed. In fact, this is what an ideal cempedak should look like, but the ones that he sold were not like this :-(
