Day +1315 : First Toyota Innova Service – the service centre disappeared

I am fine today.

It was time to send my Toyota Innova for the first service as its mileage was approaching 1000km last week. I searched the Toyota Service Manual for the nearest Toyota service centre and found one at No.4, Jalan Rajawali 1A, Bandar Puchong Jaya. It is located somewhere near Naza KIA shop not far away from IOI mall.

The location as indicated in the service manual (a direct scan)

Last Friday, I called the service centre and made an appointment at 2:00pm yesterday. But when I reached the address, there was no Toyota Service Centre there :-( What happened to the service centre? I remembered I was there to fetch my brother, Richard, who sent his Toyota Advanza for service quite sometimes ago. So I shouldn’t be going to the wrong place.

I called Richard and I was told that he received a notice that the service centre had shifted to somewhere else. After some investigation, he informed me that it was shifted to somewhere two km behind the TESCO, Puchong.

By the time I was told the new location, I had already spent about 30 minutes on the road, making two trips to the old service centre.

Toyota should update the service manual. If they can’t even handle a small issue such as this, what else can we expect of the quality of the Toyota vehicle that we spent so much to purchase?

When I brought this issue to the service centre, the staff said that that was the Toyota head quarter problem. And another staff said that the Toyota salesman should inform me the change of address.

But I don’t really care which individual is at fault. What I really matter is that Toyota is at fault!

Day +1314 : Company Chinese New Year Dinner

I am fine today.

I attended my company Chinese New Year Dinner this evening. It was held at Cheong Wah Seafood Restaurant (中华海鲜酒楼) at Pusat Bandar Puchong.

We took the Chinese New Year package that cost RM628 per table and we ordered two tables for the 21 staffs of the company. But there were two staffs didn’t feel well and didn’t turn up for the dinner. Together with the eldest son of our boss, we had twenty persons enjoying the dinner.

The package came with nine dishes and one dessert. It also comes with a bottle of red wine for each table.

As usual, I am very satisfied with the dishes and enjoyed the dinner very much :-)

Cheong Wah restaurant remains my favourite restaurant. It is the default restaurant that we entertain our church visitors.

Day +1313 : A night visit to the haematology ward

I am fine today.

Daniel and I visited the haematology ward in UH tonight. We brought along 4 boxes of Mandarin Oranges and some chocolates for the nurses.

This was the second time Daniel visited the ward. He told me he visited me once with my wife while I was receiving treatment in the ward. I invited him to join me tonight because I needed someone to help me carry the oranges. Now, he has grown stronger than me and has become a very good helper.

We also went to Jusco to purchase two New Year cards for doctors. And on the cards, I signed again with the phrase, “Living & counting: Day +1313”.

Every day I live is by the grace of God and I had been living happily for 1313 days after the bone marrow transplant.

“How are you, Ting” the nurse asked.

“Very well!” is the answer :-)

Day +1312 : Another blood donation campaign

I am fine today.

My church organized its 5th blood donation campaign today. This is also the first blood donation campaign for this year.

A total of 48 units of blood were donated today. This is a record again! The last blood campaign collected a total of 47 units of blood which was a record also :-)

With this campaign, our church successfully donated 211 units of blood since the first blood donation campaign on 19, September 2007.

The result:
  • First campaign: 36 units
  • Second campaign: 34 units
  • Third campaign: 46 units
  • Fourth campaign: 47 units
  • Fifth campaign(today) : 48 units (break the earlier record by one only)

We do not expect good response this time because the school is having replacement class today and people are also busy doing Chinese New Year shopping. With this in mind, we are quite satisfied with the turnout today.

Our next blood donation campaign will be held on the 21 August and the last one for this year will be on the 11 December.

Do you have blood to contribute? If yes, take note of the date and see you then :-)

Registration - need to fill a form
Some of the donors

My brother - Richard

Let me press for you - that is the advantage of having a boy friend :-)
Another one who shared the same advantage :-)
Carmen - she had a terrible experience earlier; experiencing dizziness and serious bruises. But she was brave enough to have another one today and everything was fine.

My wife - Angela. She went to school in the morning and donated blood in the afternoon. She didn't sleep well last night because Adriel was disturbing her but the donation was completed smoothly :-)

My niece - Hui Na. She was the last one. I fetched her to the church last minute. Her donation allowed us to break the record - no 48th unit of blood today :-) This is the first time she donated blood. When doctor asked her, "How many hours did you sleep last night?" "From 12:am to 11:am," was the answer. She slept for 11 hours last night!

Day +1311 : An alternative to Rainbow Cleaning System?

I am fine today.

I blogged about the Rainbow Cleaning System on Day +1009 : Rainbow Cleaning System. It is a water-based filtering system that cost over RM7000.

I spotted the cleaner in the office using a similar system in the office a few days ago. It was actually a Pensonic vacuum cleaner that used water filter. And according to my sister, it cost less than RM400.

However, the cleaner complained that she experienced electrical shock while using the vacuum cleaner. I am not sure whether this problem is confined to the specific unit that we have or common to all.

If the system works well and there is no issue of electrical shock, I would be very interested to get one for home use.
