I am fine today.
My company was admitted into BSA (Business Software Alliance) as a local member recently.
Richard and I met with the BSA’s director of marketing, Asia in the morning to understand how BSA works. In fact, BSA invested a lot of effort in educating the public, the law enforcement authorities and even the judges on intellectual property (IP).
We joined BSA briefly a few years ago. At that time, they named their public awareness campaign of IP as “Ops Tulen” which mean Genuine Operation. One of the activities was to advertise heavily in the newspaper that it is wrong to use pirated software and the consequences of doing it.
Now they realize that the major cause of proliferated use of pirated software is due to people’s attitude which thinks that it is “tidak-apa (doesn’t matter)” to use it. What for spend thousands ringgit to buy a software which you can get it for RM5 only? May be because of this, they switched the name to “Ops Sikap” which mean “Genuine Attitude” :-) with the purpose of changing people’s attitude toward IP right.
My two sons, Joseph and Daniel, also have attitude problem in study. They don’t understand the purpose of studying. This causes them to have an attitude of “don’t care”. I think I will have to conduct a “Sikap Belajar Kuat (Study Hard Attitude)” campaign on them :-)
See you next post :-)
