Day +1334 : Holiday at Port Dickson – Hermit Crabs

I am fine today.

The children caught a lot of hermit crabs from the sea. They find them very interesting as each one of them is having a different shell.

These sea creatures are very unique in the sense that they carry their “home” everywhere they go. And when they grow in size, they will find a bigger seashell as their home and abandon the old one.

Once disturbed, the hermit crab would retract into the shell and we have to wait for a while for it to appear again from the shell.

It is even more interesting to find out that some of them come out completely from the shell, most probably in an attempt to escape our capture. We were lucky to be able to see two without shell – one captured by Daniel in the sea and another one I spotted it on the beach.

While the children were having fun with these creatures, I joined them by taking photos which I would like to share with you now.
