Day +1128 : Extending course of Augmentin

I am fine today.

I feel significantly better today. The cough and phlegm are very much reduced. The irritation in the left lung is also lessened, and this makes good rest possible :-)

I went to see Dr. Koh this morning. He found out that my lung was clear. After describing to him my condition for the past few days, he prescribed additional 3 days Augmentin to me to complete a 14 days (two weeks) course – 4 days (prescribed earlier) + 7 days (purchased from pharmacy) + 3 days (new prescription). This is to make sure that I am treated adequately.

However, my brother, Richard, didn’t agree that this is equivalent to two weeks course of Augmentin. The argument is that I stopped taking Augmentin after 4 days, and this antibiotic must be taken continuously to be effective, so the first 4 days cannot be included in 2 weeks course. With this, he advised me to get from Dr. Koh another 4 days of Augmentin to make a proper 2 weeks course. I believe his argument is valid. I will buy another 4 days of Augmentin from the clinic.

Apart from Augmentin, I am also given Rhinathiol (375mg) to break down mucus, and cough syrup, HOSOLVON.

“What if the flu persists even after I finished the Augmentin?” I asked Dr. Koh.

“See your specialist,” is the answer.

But the lung specialist in UH already discharged me from the lung (asthma) clinic. The only way to see them again is through referral from my haematologist. Hopefully, I don’t have to go through this hassle again.

See you next post :-)
