Day +1094 : A screen too wide?
I am fine today.
We already felt that we needed more working space on the computer screen about 10 years ago. There was no LCD monitor at that time. All we have was the 14” to 15” CRT (cathode ray tube) monitor.
My boss suggested me to study the possibility of connecting two monitors to a computer CPU so that we can have more working space – writing code on the left monitor and viewing the output on the right monitor for example. After doing a little bit of research, I understood the way it should be done; inserting another display card in the computer and connect a secondary monitor to it. Since then, we were using two monitors until now. And every staff in the office is also provided with two monitors.
Nowadays, a lot of graphic card comes with dual monitors support. There is no longer a need to install two graphic cards in a system to support dual monitors.
As the LCD monitor getting wider and wider, cheaper and cheaper, it is not too costly to have dual monitors. A Samsung 20” wide screen LCD monitor that I purchased recently cost RM499 only. With slightly less than RM1000, we can have dual monitors with a combined width of 40”.
To be continued and see you next post :-)
