I brought my wife to Optimax Eye Specialist Centre at Taman Tun Dr. Ismail for annual eye check-up this afternoon. Her eyes condition are good with some short sightedness on both eyes but this doesn't require her to wear glasses.
My wife did a LASIK (Laser Assisted In-situ Keratomileusis) operation to correct her eye sight in 2002 and since then she didn't wear glasses. She couldn't life without glasses prior to this.
The cost of the operation for both eyes was RM3400 at that time. The cost is more or less the same for conventional LASIK now but the technology has advanced over the year and now they are providing something like All-Laser-Lasik which uses the laser to create the cornea flap.
I was told that longsightedness can be corrected trough LASIK operation as well but you have to go for multifocal treatment which is more expensive.
