Day +1341 : Security tag that works in reverse

I am fine today.

I purchased a Khind RC 118M rice cooker from Jusco, IOI Mall last Wednesday. It has a capacity of 1.8L. The rice cooker is non-stick and healthy because it uses a Buffalo stainless steel pot.

The rice cooker cost RM319. It just happened that Jusco was running a promotion that offered RM10 voucher for very RM150 spent on selected brands of electrical goods, and fortunately Khind was one of them. So I was given RM20 Jusco vouchers which make the net cost of the rice cooker RM299 only. A brief search just before that revealed that the price of such cooker (one with 1.8L Buffalo inner pot) ranges from RM308 to RM330. I should say that RM299 is a good buy :-)

The rice cooker comes with 3 years warranty while the inner pot will have a warranty period of 10 years. It also comes with a complementary stainless steel steam tray.

When my maid would like to use the new rice cooker yesterday evening, she discovered that the security tag was still attached to the cover of the rice cooker. The security tag is used to prevent someone smuggling goods out from the supermarket. The sensors erected at the exit will sound should it detects a security tag passing by.

However, the sensors didn’t give any alarm when I brought the rice cooker out of Jusco. We have no way to detach the security tag at home. The only way to remove it is to bring it back to Jusco.

When I entered Jusco, the sensor detected the security tag and gave alarm. A security guard came to investigate upon hearing it.

When I brought it out, the alarm didn’t sound but when I brought it in, the alarm sounded. What a security system! Working in reverse! Returning to Jusco to get the security tag removed cost petrol, time and energy :-(

Always make sure that the security tag is removed from the goods that you have purchased, else you might run into trouble as what I have experienced.

See you next post :-)
