Day + 574 : It sounds as good as a new one!

I am fine today.

We just got our Kawai upright piano overhauled this Monday.

“Now the piano is as good as a new one!” claimed the tuner who overhauled the piano.

We purchased this second hand Kawai piano in Miri, Sarawak just before we moved here. We moved it together in a container that transported my 1.3 Proton here. We paid RM9000 for this piano.

The tuner who serviced our piano had been tuning and repairing piano for a more than 20 years. He used to travel to Sarawak long time ago to provide piano tuning and repairing services. He told us a trip there would normally last for 6 months!

“It is better to buy a second piano than a new one,” he said.

It is because the quality of the piano would only be known a few years after the purchase. The quality of the sound can remain, getting better or getting worse. The one by which the sound is getting better should be the right choice. But how do we know it is getting better? “Call me, I will check for you,” he said.

We paid RM1500 for the overhaul and now the upright Piano sounds like semi-grand Piano :-)

The next overhauled was scheduled 10 years later :-)

Hello Ah Kiew,

Our camera just went kaput and we're shopping for a new one. Your camera takes really nice pictures (in addition to the credit given to the skills of the photographer of course:). What brand/model is your camera? We tried Kodak EasyShare Z712, but the colour has a lot of yellow, and the picture was rather noisy, plus it consumes batteries incredibly fast! Any recommendation/advice you can share regarding digital camera is highly appreciated! Many thanks in advance.

Hi Ee Ding,

I am using Canon PowerShot A400 which was purchased 3 years ago at RM699. It should be very cheap now.

I am not very familiar with digital camera. We have a few staffs in the office very well versed in this area. I can ask them later.

In fact, I use the Microsoft Office Picture Manager "Auto Correct" function to correct the picture. The software is quite clever, it would improve the quality of the photo almost every time :-)

I can write about this later.

Hello Ah Kiew,

Thanks for the infor. Coincidentally, the model we're looking at now is also Canon (Power Shot A720). It costs from USD185 to 250, cheaper to buy on the internet. We shall look forward to your writing on digital camera and picture management and get ourselves further educated before we place our order. Thanks.

This must be the piano I sold to you. The strings are still shinny, you protected it very well, those felts aged, well time can't these soft things, I also bought an used grandpiano when I moved to Kch. Your upright-grand is still one of the top in the used piano market, after earthquakes now it will cost more.

Yes, Siwen. It was the one that you sold to us :-) Yu Chien is still playing it often. David
