Day +893 : Making ice-cream

I am fine today.

My wife is trying to make ice-cream recently. There are two approaches of making ice-cream; one using ice-cream maker consisting of a container with a paddle that stirs the ice-cream mixture automatically and the other approach is to stir the mixture manually using something like cake mixer after putting the mixture in the freezer for about 3 hours.

We tried to make ice-cream using the ice-cream maker but were not successful. At the end we resorted to manual approach and managed to make very tasty, smooth, fresh and delicious ice-cream.

Homemade ice-cream doesn’t necessary cost less. However, we are in full control of the ingredients that should be used. For example, we can always add something like fruits, nuts, beans, chocolate, and even biscuits according to our liking. But most importantly, we can ensure that the ingredients used are fresh. We would never know whether the ice-cream manufacturer uses expired milk powder or other ingredients to make ice-cream. Sometimes, I am very doubtful how could they sell ice-cream so cheaply. Could it be because they use about to expire or expired ingredients?

We have an ice-cream recipe book. Apart from this, my wife also patiently collected many ice-cream recipes from newspaper cuttings.

If you are interested to make ice-cream and in need of recipe, we have plenty of them.

Hi David,

My wife, Ee Ding, browses your website on a regular (daily) basis. She frequently calls me in front of the computer to read your postings and see your pictures. Every time we discuss how appetizing the food looks and how "热闹" life in Malaysia is. Your postings have a real impact on me since I have been to Malaysia a few times and have encountered the food, culture, mentality and the natural beauty of your country. We really get inspired following your stories and life experiences. We find your life to be really interesting and full of happenings. Great job!

Best regards,
Dobrin
