Day +988 : Holiday at Tasik Kenyir (4)

I am fine today. Continue from yesterday…

While we were cooking the dinner, the boatman received a call informing him that there were fresh lake fishes for sale. Richard requested the houseboat operator to purchase some fresh lake fishes for us when he booked the houseboat. The operator told him that there was no guarantee that he could get the fish. So we were very happy to know that there were indeed fresh lake fishes for sales today.

The fishes were on the fish rearing platforms some 15 minutes express boat ride away. We were very excited because we got a chance to have free express boat ride :-)

With the permission of the boatman, Richard, Joan (Richard’s daughter), Dennis (Richard’s son), Joseph, Daniel and myself squeezed into the small express boat and set out for our destination – the platforms. Due to overloading, the express boat took 30 minutes to reach the destination instead of 15 minutes :-(

It was a joy ride in the beginning, but when we learned from the boatman that we might experience big waves along the way, the joy ride became worry ride, and when we actually saw the wave, the worry ride became scary ride :-(

We were worried and scared because the boat was heavily overloaded. However, we were not so worried that our life or the children life might be threatened if the boat capsized. With the life jacket, we were very confident that we could bring the children to safety.

Our actual worry was the electronic gadgets that we brought along – the camera and handphone. Soaking those two things in the water would incur a loss of almost RM3000 jus for me alone.

We purchased 1.5kg of catfishes, RM15 per kg and a few of other fishes. There was no scale available, we estimated the weight. We paid RM40 to the fishermen eventually.

The fisherman was kind enough to clean and cut the fish for us. We rushed back to the houseboat before it was too dark.
