The class of the subject of Church History was divided into a few groups to present on certain topics. It just happened that it is my group's turn to present this week. The timing is definitely not very good as I am attending the intensive course.
The topic that we presented was about Mother of Jesus, Mary. Our lecturer gave us a book to read and we have to raise our opinions based on the book. The title of the book is "Mary: A Catholic Evangelical Debate" by Dwight Longenecker, David Gustafson. Catholics and Evangelicals have a very different view on the Mother of Jesus. Catholics give a lot more respect to Mary compared to Evangelicals . One of the notable difference is that Catholics believe that Mary has to avoid original sin in order to bear a child (Jesus) that was sinless. Evangelicals couldn't accept this view.
The book is a good read in the sense that it promotes understanding of what Catholics and Evangelicals believe, why they believe as such, and the basis of their beliefs. If you would like to pursue this issue, you can have a preview of the book here.
We didn't do any preparation before the holiday. In fact, I was not even aware that we have to present in the first week after the school holiday. Since I am only free after 10:30pm, we have to burn midnight oil to sort out the presentation. For the past two nights, I managed to sleep for four hours a night only:-(
Study life is tough. However, the tougher the life, the greater the hope is :-)
