Day +1987 : Bintangor holiday (4) - A trip to Mukah (B)

I am fine today.

We stayed in Mukah for one night and came back to Bintangor the next day. My mother-in-law also followed us back. That means, we managed to squeeze seven persons into one car successfully :-)

Going to the beach not long after arriving Mukah. Aaron couldn't wait to go to the beach, and kept urging us to  go there even in the hot afternoon.

The site for KAUL festival. More information about the festival can be found here.

Seaside

The beach is polluted with debris - from logging activities?

Something like the aftermath of the eventful calamity in the movie 2012?

A bug on the beach

A big and nice Catholic Church

We were treated a delicious dinner in JS Seafood Restaurant

We went to visit the market on Monday morning, just before we went back to Bintangor

The jetty

The Mukah bridge

Something I saw on the Mukah Bridge. My father-in-law told me that there is coalfield in Mukah, and I believe what I saw was the coal transported and deposited here from the coalfield. There is a coal fired power generation plant in Mukah.

This is how the coal looks like.  Is it the charcoal that we normally used in barbecue? No. Though they looks similar, they are different. I found something on the internet that explains the difference: "Coal is black mineral found below the ground, used for burning to supply heat and to make coal gas and coal tar. Charcoal is black substance made by burning wood slowly in an oven with a little air, used as a filtering material or as fuel or for drawing."

There are many long houses along the way between Mukah and Selangau.
To be continued and see you next post :-)
