The journey had been smooth. We reached our camp site, Highlands Christian Centre (HCC), Gospel Hall, Tanah Rata, at about 6:00pm.
The campsite provides very basic facility. Most of us stayed in the dormitories which accommodate 10 guests each and cost RM140 per night. This equivalent to RM14 per person per night if we "fill it up" to the maximum capacity.
The campsite also provides room which cost RM90 per night. I understand that the room is not very spacious. So the dormitory is the best choice for economic reason :-)
We started our first session at 8:00pm. The speaker, Rev. Raymond Suen, asked all of us to quiet and try to keep our mind clean for about 20 to 30 minutes. This was very tough for all of us as we all get used to busyness. I heard someone snoring during this part of the session.
When we entered the quiet moment, the speaker read a Bible passage in both Chinese and English. We were then given a guide to meditate personally upon the passage. After that, we were break into group to further discuss the passage. The session ended with a message from the speaker based on Bible passage.
The Word of God came alive throughout us this process. The arrangement leads us to understand the God's Word progressively, at first listening, then meditate personally, then meditate in group, and then finally, the speaker revealed what he understand about the passage. One important thing we attempted to achieve was "What God would like to speak to you personally?"
This was the first time we were introduced to this approach, and most of us commented that it helped in appreciating the fullness of God's Word.
We had altogether 6 similar sessions in this camp where each one of us practised the method and at the same time listening the to message delivered by the speaker.
Group photo - 31 one of us including the photographer. The background building is still under construction.
