Day +2593 : Attending intensive class on Christian Ethics

I am fine today.

Christian Ethics is a compulsory subject of my course. It is a two credits subject. The seminary invited Professor Dr. Kwan Kai Man (关启文教授) from Hong Kong Baptist University (香港浸会大学) lecture in the first half of the course - 3 days intensive course starting from today to Wednesday. Following this, Dr. Tan Kim Sai (陈金狮博士) will continue teaching the course until the end of the seminar. This means that we didn't have class for this subject for the half semester in the past.

Professor Dr. Kwan is a Professor and Head of Department of Religion and Philosophy, and Director, M.A in Liberal Studies and Ethics of Hong Kong Baptist University. He is very well versed in the ethics subject. Therefore he would be able to speak as a scholar in this subject matter.

I am very glad that I can attend his class.

I spilled a drop of water on the table while attending class, this cockroach came to drink the water. I captured it on Galaxy Note.

Day +2592 : Happy birthday Adriel!

I am fine today.

We celebrated Adriel's nine years old birthday this evening. It is a simple celebration with her family members and her friends living in the same residential area.

Instead of buying her toy this time, my wife and I brought her to Tesco yesterday to choose a dress as her birthday gift. She made a very quick decision based on the promotion brochure. The dress that she wore in the birthday party was the one :-)

May God bless Adriel!

Day +2590 : Lunch at StarVillage

I am fine today.

I brought my family for a lunch at StarVillage at Puchong Jaya yesterday. Daniel, Joseph and I went to the restaurant directly after our morning session at Old Town. The rest of the family meet us there.

All of us enjoyed the lunch very much. StarVillage offers very cheap oriental and western set lunch in the afternoon. The meal for seven of us cost less than RM100 :-)

Day +2589 : First Old Town customer of the day

I am fine today.

I brought Daniel and Joseph to Old Town again this morning for them to focus on their mathematics. An Old Town staff told me that it would open as early as 7:00am today but it was not open when we were there at 7:30am. I found out later that Old Town only open at 8:00am during public holiday and weekend. Fortunately, the restaurant allowed us to use the table and chair while waiting for it to open officially at 8:00am. We ordered our breakfast after 8:00am.

Old Town is a nice place to work :-) We can stay there as long as we like. We stayed there until 1:00pm and the two boys made quite a lot of progress in these few hours.

Day +2588 : Year-end holiday and travel arrangement

I am fine today.

My wife applied for year-end travel warrant from the education department in July. I have to attend a grand re-union of my former form six classmates in Kuching from 13 - 15 December. So we planned to fly to Kuching first on government warrant and then go to Sibu on our own, and then from Sibu to KL on government warrant again. Unfortunately, the education department turned down our application given the reason that we can only travel to and from one destination in Sarawak. We have no choice but to change our plan by flying to Sibu first and then go to Kuching for the reunion. This will incur extra cost for both the government and me :-(

We got the travel warrant today. A round trip flight between KL-Sibu for my family consisting of 4 adults and 2 children cost the government RM9,044. It cost RM2,444 if we book the flight online. This means the government pays RM6600 extra to MAS. Perhaps this is one of the many ways that government supports MAS.

The year-end and travel arrangement is now planned as follow:

6 Dec : KL-Sibu (MAS - on government warrant)
10 Dec : Sarikei-KCH (Ferry)
16 Dec : KCH-Miri (MAS flight)
17 Dec : Miri - Mulu (MAS flight)
19 Dec : Mulu - Miri (MAS flight)
20 Dec : Miri - Sibu (Bus)
24 Dec : Sibu - KL (MAS - on government warrant)

This holiday will involve a lot of travelling. We will visit Mulu National Park for the first time on this trip :-)

Day +2587 : Bringing Linda and Jackie to MBS

I am fine today.

I brought two seminary students, Linda and Jackie, to MBS today. Two of them are from Taiwan. They are doing a 5-week internship in my church.

I would like them to experience the life of MBS. They will stay in the seminary for one night also.

Both of them were excited to see a campus so nice :-) I brought them to night market in the evening.

Day +2586 : Scoring 1 Mark for Add Maths :-(

I am fine today.

Daniel continues his could't care less attitude of his study. I asked for his report card and he never bothered t give me. My niece Hui Na came to my house and helped to check his result online. Not surprisingly, his result is extremely bad, scoring 6 marks for this first Add Maths test and only 1 mark for the mid-year test :-(

He never did his homework and never studied, living a happy go lucky life all the time.

I talked to him nicely, trying to find out why he has no motivation to study at all. He told me he find no reason to study. When he asked his maths teacher the purpose of studying Add Maths, the teacher couldn't provide him an answer. I explained to him that mathematics is a tool for many other subjects such as physics, engineering. Without mathematics, it is impossible for one to study those subjects in-depth. And in this stage of study, his purpose is to score good result for all subjects so that he could proceed to next level of study. Only when he goes to a higher level of study, he will specialize on area that he is interested. He seemed to accept the explanation, and I hope he find purpose in his study after my explanation.

I asked him to pick up Add Maths by himself. I brought him and Joseph to Old Town this morning to do their Mathematics exercises. They could do most of the questions. My job is to make sure that they continue doing the exercises and helped them occasionally.
