Day +1084 : The making of roti canai

I am fine today.

We packed 13 roti canai as our lunch after church service last Sunday. While waiting for the roti canai to be ready, I took my sweet time to capture the whole process of roti canai making on my camera.

The restaurant that I ordered the roti canai is called Sri Melur Jaya. The plain roti canai (roti kosong) cost RM0.90 a piece only. So the total cost of a lunch for 9 person is RM11.70 only :-)

I would like to share with you the photos that I took that day. I hope you enjoy them :-)

Day +1083 : Follow-up at Haematology Clinic

My Blood Count Today: - Readings in square bracket [] are result from previous test.
Red Blood Count (HB) = 150[149] (Normal 130-180)
Platelet = 188[194] (Normal 150-450)
White Blood Count (WBC) = 6.7[7.3] (Normal 4 - 11)
Absolute Neutrophil Count (ANC) = 2.613[2.847] (Normal 1.5 - 8.0)
ALT = 81[64] (Normal 30 – 65)
AST = 41[28] (Normal 15-37)
GGT = 60[58] (Normal 15-85)

I am fine today.

The blood count result today is normal. Though the liver enzymes, ALT and AST, are slightly over the normal range, there is nothing much to worry about :-)

The result of the chest CT scan done last Thursday showed no evidence that I have Bronchioectasis, and another comment written on the report was that the shape or condition of the lung remained unchanged compared to the previous scan which was done July last year.
This is good news as it didn’t get worse as expected :-)

Doctor ordered an echocardiogram heart test for me to the function of my heart and the test will be carried out during my next bone marrow transplant clinic appointment 4 weeks later.

Just in case you don’t know what is echocardiogram heart test.
An echocardiogram (often called "echo") is a graphic outline of the heart's movement. During this test, high-frequency sound waves, called ultrasound, provide pictures of the heart's valves and chambers. This allows the technician, called a sonographer, to evaluate the pumping action of the heart. Echo is often combined with Doppler ultrasound and color Doppler to evaluate blood flow across the heart's valves.
Apart from this, I have to do a respiratory function test (RFT) every 6 months to monitor the function of my lung. The next one is scheduled on the 1st of October.

I also did a pneumocococcal vaccination after seeing the haematologist. A dose of the vaccine cost RM138, and again I went to the baby clinic to request the nurse there to inject for me.
This vaccine has to be repeated 3 yearly while the influenza vaccination has to be done yearly.

I have gained some weight over the past few weeks, and now my weight is 60.8kg :-)

Day +1082 : Congratulation! Min Huang

I am fine today.

My nephew, Min Huang, who scored 3A and 1A- in this STPM exam, was admitted into University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) for a medical course after failing to secure a place in University Sains Malaysia. He will be reporting to the university on the 27th of June.

I wrote about him on Day +1063 : Apex University, Apex Blunder; World-class University, World-class Blooper and Day +982 : Congratulation!

He put medical course in UMS as his fifth choice. Though he didn’t get his favorite course, I still would like to congratulate him for getting a place to do medical course in local university.

Comparing dentistry to medicine, I prefer the later :-)

May God bless Min Huang!

Day +1081 : Parent’s Day Dinner

I am fine today.

Our church organized a Parent’s Day dinner this evening. Many delicious delicacies were served. There were about 70 people attended the dinner.

The event was started with a singing session followed by the eating session - the dinner. The eating session was then followed by another singing session led by my brother Richard. After that, we had our guest, Alex Chow, who just arrived from Hong Kong, presenting a gospel song. This was followed by a very innovative and interesting sketch by the youth and teen group of our church. The sketch was based on the Bible story - The Parable of a Prodigy Son.

I was invited again to share my experience with regard to Leukaemia; how I went through the challenges with God’s abundant grace.

The event was concluded with a message from our new pastor, Rev. Lau.

As usual, I would like to share with you the delicacies of the night :-)

Day +1080 : Happy birthday, Daniel!

I am fine today.

We celebrated Daniel 12 years old birthday today. It was a very simple celebration.

His actual birthday falls on 20 June, which is tomorrow, but because our church will be having a parent’s day celebration tomorrow evening, we bring forward the celebration a day earlier.

Daniel is studying primary six and he will be sitting for UPSR exam September. However, he doesn’t bother much about the exam. Studying to him is still a burden and playing computer games is his heaven :-(

Anyway, his fundamental is quite strong, so we don’t force him to study much.
