Day +2555 : Celebrating 7th Anniversary of Bone Marrow Transplant

I am fine today.

It has been 7 years since I did the bone marrow transplant on 5 July 2006. Life has been marvellous for the past 7 years! I thank God for blessing me with a great family; a cute and sweet wife with four healthy and quite well-behaved children :-) They make my life very interesting.

My brothers and sisters gave me very good support when I was being treated for Leukaemia, and this support continues after that. Whenever there is someone coming here from Sarawak, my sisters always called and asked me what are the local products there that I would like to have, they will then purchase and send it over to me, all without cost :-)

Apart from this, I am blessed to be a member of the big family in Christ where I always enjoyed the support and fellowship from the members of the church. Serving God with the pastors and church members make my life very meaningful.

Lastly, the life in the seminary over the past two and half years were wonderful. Though there are times when there is tension especially when I have many deadlines to beat, the interaction with the students and lecturers in the seminary were great :-)

Today is my Day +2555 after bone marrow transplant, and when I divide the days with 365, I got exactly 7. This should prove that I didn't count the days wrongly.

I would like to give thanks and all glory to God for what he has done for me!

See you next post :-)

Day +1466 : Teacher's Day Dinner

I am fine today.

The school that my wife is teaching is holding a Teacher’s Day dinner this evening at Bukit Jalil Golf Resort. Like last year, I attended the dinner with my wife.

The theme for this year celebration is Aloha Summer. Teachers and guests were encouraged to put in casual wear that suit the theme. The headmistress grabbed this golden opportunity to wear pant and slipper which she said she would never have a chance to wear in the school :-)

A lot of people put on Hawaian style clothes and apart from this, we had a lot of Hawaian music too.

The meal was catered from Tai Thong Restaurant. No Hawaian delicacies but Chinese dishes were served. Again, the food was below average but I enjoyed the event very much simply because I am alive and well to attend the event again with my beloved wife :-)

Day +1461 : Happy birthday to me :-)

I am fine today.

Today is the fourth anniversary of my bone marrow transplant. In other words, I am celebrating my four years old transplant birthday today :-)

The total number of days that I lived so far after bone marrow transplant is 1461, and dividing this number with the total number of a year (365) yields a result of 4 (years).

The happening on the day when the transplant was done is recorded on Great Day 0 - My New Immune System's Foundation Laid.

I thank God for the wonderful days that He has given to me. I also thank for your support and prayer.

God is good and life is good :-)

11你以恩典为年岁的冠冕。你的路径都滴下脂油。12滴在旷野的草场上。小山以欢乐束腰。13草场以羊群为衣。谷中也长满了五谷。这一切都欢呼歌唱。诗篇65:11-13

11 You crown the year with Your goodness, And Your paths drip with abundance. 12 They drop on the pastures of the wilderness, And the little hills rejoice on every side. 13 The pastures are clothed with flocks; The valleys also are covered with grain; They shout for joy, they also sing. Psalms 65:11-13

Day +1371 : Passing 100,000 hits

I am fine today.

This blog, started while I was in the isolated ward doing bone marrow transplant on the 4th of July 2006, had passed 100,000 hits yesterday :-)

I only started to monitor the page hit about six months after this blog was established. This means that page hits before this were not included in the count. Taking this into account, it should pass the 10,000 mark earlier than yesterday.

I must say again that it is by the abundant grace of God that I lived, and I also have to thank all of you for helping and supporting me in many ways.

Thank you!

DAy +1361 : TESCO - the more aggressive it is, the merrier we are

I am fine today.

I collected 3779 TESCO Clubcard Points over a period of three months, starting from December 2009 to February 2010. And of this mount of Clubcard Points, 3750 of them had been converted to TESCO cash vouchers worth RM37.50 which I received a few days ago.

TESCO is very aggressive in marketing. It advertises in the newspapers, even on the front page, and distributes their promotional news bulletins through conventional mail and email. Apart from this, they also make good use of their website for marketing.

The Clubcard Points system is another way to retain customers who can collect the points through many means: direct purchase of products, using recycled bags, giving bonus and extra points and also through the credit card.

From the customer perspective, the more aggressive it is, the merrier we are. We get to know through their marketing campaign what is the right time to purchase especially for products that can last very long. In addition to this, their generosity in giving out Cubcard Points also help us to save :-)

Day +1313 : A night visit to the haematology ward

I am fine today.

Daniel and I visited the haematology ward in UH tonight. We brought along 4 boxes of Mandarin Oranges and some chocolates for the nurses.

This was the second time Daniel visited the ward. He told me he visited me once with my wife while I was receiving treatment in the ward. I invited him to join me tonight because I needed someone to help me carry the oranges. Now, he has grown stronger than me and has become a very good helper.

We also went to Jusco to purchase two New Year cards for doctors. And on the cards, I signed again with the phrase, “Living & counting: Day +1313”.

Every day I live is by the grace of God and I had been living happily for 1313 days after the bone marrow transplant.

“How are you, Ting” the nurse asked.

“Very well!” is the answer :-)

Day +1088 : S.J.K (C) YAK CHEE – A Walk Down the Memory Lane

I am fine today.

It was in fact a teacher’s day cum 79-year anniversary celebration (2009年教师晚兼校庆晚宴) of S.J.K (C) YAK CHEE, the school where my wife teaches, and Joseph and Daniel study.

Many weeks ago, I promised my wife to attend the dinner with her tonight.

The event was held at Bukit Jalil Goft and Country Resort but the food was catered from Tai Thong restaurant. The ball room which hosted more than 60 tables was very crowded.

Apart from the eating and speeches, the parents and teachers presented interesting programme that made the night lively :-)

One guy imitated the great star, Michael Jackson, who passed away unexpectedly yesterday. Though I am not a fan of Michael Jackson and didn’t really get exposed too much to his works, I felt that his imitator tonight was too soft. One indispensable element that the great star always demonstrates was his explosive dynamic on the stage. Lacking this element, there is no way to be like him :-)

The food tonight was not really nice, but I also didn’t expect much from it. It is quite impossible to prepare food for over 600 people with limited budget and yet delicious. However, I enjoyed the night very much, all because I was able to attend dinner again with my lovely wife :-)

Every teacher received a gift. My wife received this wonderful gift - a electronic scale. We have been talking about of getting one months ago because the mechanic one that we have didn't give accurate reading. I need to monitor my weight regularly as drastic changes in weight could be a signal of health issue.

Day +1029 : A celebration

I am fine today.

Following the launching of Esteem 7.5 software on Saturday, we are officially distributing this new version starting from today.

As a celebration of achieving tremendous technology breakthrough in this release, we went for a dim sum lunch at Tai Thong Imperial Palace at Puchong.

Though we used to frequent the restaurant for lunch, this is the first time ever we had dim sum there. The restaurant is offering 50% for some selected dim sum and 20% discount for the rest.

This is the second time I have dim sum post bone marrow transplant. The dim sum tastes good :-)

Day +1023 : Thank you!

I am fine today.

I asked a church member to help me design a thank you card to commemorate my 1000th day post bone marrow transplant which fell on 31st March 2009.

I have a blog entry regarding this :  Day +1000 : A Thousand Days Only Possible With You!

I would like to present this card to you now :-)  (Click on the card to have a larger view)
