Day +1403 : Holiday in Port Dickson (1)

I am fine today.

It took us about one hour and fifteen minutes to reach Duta Villas Golf Resort in Port Dickson which is located at 21km, Jalan Pantai. It is quite difficult to find it as there is no signboard that direct us to the resort, we would see something like Palm Springs Golf and Marina Resort which is located opposite of Tiara Beach Resort instead.

Richard told me that Palm Springs hold many resorts and Duta Villas Golf Resort is one of them. Fortunately I was following him; else there is no way for me to locate the resort as I was searching for a signboard that reads Duta Villas Goft Resort which didn’t exist at all.

Instead of giving us two units of apartments as per Richard’s booking, the resort gave us 6 rooms (non- apartment) without any reason.

The resort covered a very big area with many blocks of buildings. However, there were very few people staying there. And in fact we saw many blocks were abandoned with walls of some units being torn down. Worse still, there are big trees growing inside some units, with branches coming out from the windows. This was the first time ever in my life to see a house with such a big tree living in it :-(

I believe the resort was built through some kind of investment model which guaranteed the buyers a lucrative return. You buy a unit, the resort manages it for you, and the high return is guaranteed and not only this, you can also stay in the unit for a predetermined number of days in a year.

Looking at the way the infrastructure was built – the bridge that cross a river, the road, the big car park, the man-made beach and swimming pool, and also a big caravan park with so many abandoned caravans, one can conclude that the development project should be a very ambitious one, which unfortunately comes to a miserable end.

All these kind of investment models that I heard of ended up in failure. So never be tempted to invest unless you can’t find any way to throw away your money.

The resort is beach-less and this is compensated with a quite a nice man-made beach and sand pool.

The room is big but the facility is not well maintained. The air conditioner in my room was giving out loud powerful noise but the air in the room remained warm.

The floor of the room was dusty and greeting us was some dead cockroaches on the floor.

Richard told me that there were people who checked in to the resort and checked out immediately upon seeing the condition of the room, paying a fine of RM50. We didn’t do this because Richard booked the rooms under Awana Vacation. And furthermore, we were not so particular with the condition of the room. Comparing to the kampong house that we had lived for so many years, these rooms can be said to be the top class accommodation to us :-)

To be continued and see you next post :-)
