I experienced poor vision for the last few months whereby it was a problem for me to focus on near objects. Reading texts on my HTC Touch 3G PDA phone with small display has now become a daunting task. I have to extend my phone far away to obtain a comfortable reading distance.
Though I experience severe dry eyes syndrome after bone marrow transplant, the ophthalmologist (eye specialist) told me that my eyes condition was still very good in the last follow-up on 12 February this year. There was no scratch noticed at all thanks to the regular application of artificial tears.
So what could be the problem?
I went to England Optical Group in IOI mall a few days ago to seek for a solution to my reading problem. When I put on an over-the-counter reading glasses, the small texts on my PDA phone became crystal clear :-) Incredible!
This confirmed that I have presbyopia (long-sightedness) - a health condition where the eye exhibits a progressively diminished ability to focus on near objects.
Presbyopia is a symptom caused by the natural course of aging. This means that I am getting old but I do not feel sad at all. I am very grateful instead. Why? To be able to live up to an age that needs reading glasses is a tremendous grace and blessing of God :-) Not all people have the chance to wear the reading glasses.
