Day +1531 : Aaron's Skin Disease

I am fine today.

Aaron fell down while cycling and hurt his knee about two weeks ago. The wound on the knee recovered steadily but when it was just about to recover fully, itchiness developed on the wound. He scratched the wound, making it worse. But the problem didn't stop here, rashes spread to his eyes and then other parts of his body.

We brought him to see a doctor who said that the problem was due to allergy. He was given medicines for allergy relief but unfortunately they didn't work. The problem escalated. More and more rashes appeared on various parts of his body.

We brought him to see another doctor this morning. And this time, the doctor suspected that he had skin infection, so he was given a strong antibiotic - Augmentin. Apart from that, the doctor also prescribed Clarityne and a type of cream for allergy relief.

Since the problem is very serious, we have to to monitor him very closely. If he doesn't response to Augmentin the next two or three days, we have to bring him to see a skin specialist.

Rashes on his body
The knee - most seriously affected
His face and left eye also affected
See you next post :-)

Curious to know so that we can learn something from here as it did look like allergy in the first instance. Did the doctor say what sort of skin infection and how he get it? Is it from the knee wound?

Hi Teresa,

Yes, doctor suspected that it is from the knee wound. In fact it was about to heal but somehow he felt itchiness on the wound and he scratched the wound that opened the door for infection, I guess. Doctor didn't mentioned but based on his experience, he said infection such as this do happens.
