Day +1773 : Another surprise celeberation

I am fine today.

I was informed by my nephew, a MES director, that I needed to attend a discussion on a software that we are going to lunch next month but encountering serious issues. The venue was in Station One of Bandar Puteri Puchong.

When I was in Station One, no one was there. And not long later, my nephew called me asking me to go to somewhere near Wings (回音石民歌餐厅) Bandar Puteri to assist him to change his punctured tyre. When I was there, most of the MES staff were already there, and it was not about the software but my birthday :-)

When I received the notice of meeting, my mind was busy looking for possible solutions to the problem. It was a great relief when I knew that it was in fact a celebration only. I ordered double cheese grilled chicken and enjoyed life singing presentation after the dinner.

I didn't bring my camera as I didn't know that it was a birthday celebration. Anyway, I appreciate MES staff for giving me such a good surprise :-)

Day +1772 : First time chairing the chapel service

I am fine today.

First of all, I would like to inform you that my son Aaron has recovered from his sickness. I thank you for your prayer.

I chaired the chapel service for the first time ever this morning. Though it was simple but I was a little bit nervous. To make the matter worse, the pianist that I engaged forgot about it and came late. While I was busy looking for an ad hoc pianist, he came, and the session went on smoothly. May be I should look for a standby pianist next time.

A sermon delivered by Dr. Tan Kim Sai (陈金狮博士)
And something not really relevant - the dishes that we had for lunch. No more Malay food now, only one option; that is the Chinese food. The seminary employed a cook and we hope that we will have seminary-cooked food to eat next term.

Day +1771 : Another guess, which one is fake?

I am fine today.

On my post "Day +1766 : Which one is fake?", someone pointed out the fake one straight away. I believe that one was too easy to guess. Now I give a more challenging one as follow, please tell me which one is fake.

Day +1770 : Happy Birthday to Me!

I am fine today.

I celebrated my official 42 year old birthday today. This is the birthday as calculated from the date of birth as stated in my birth certificate. My actual age is 44 years old.

The seminary gave me a surprise celebration just before the lunch, and in the evening, the first year students organized another celebration for me :-) I thank the student council for the special arrangement during the lunch and I must thank all my dear first year classmates for taking the trouble to celebrate my birthday outside the seminary.

This is my fifth official birthday after I was diagnosed with Leukaemia, and the fourth birthday after the bone marrow transplant.

It is by God's abundant grace that I live to celebrate so many birthdays :-)

Day +1769 : Gospel Tract

I am fine today.

I was required to design a gospel tract as a course requirement for the subject of evangelism. I copied some content from my blog and asked an artist to do the design for me, and the outcome was as follow.

This is the assignment that I spent shortest time to complete :-)

Day +1768 : Aaron is sick

I am fine today.

Aaron's kindergarten teacher called me in the afternoon telling me that Aaron was having fever. I fetched him back and he vomited not long after reaching home. He also complained of stomach ache.

As I was rushing an assignment to be submitted tomorrow, my wife brought him to see a doctor. We pray that he will be fine very soon.

Day +1767 : Happy Mother's Day

I am fine today.

Today is Mother's Day. I would like to wish all mothers a happy Mother's Day.

Our church held a very simple Mother's Day celebration after the church service this morning.

A church member, Chow Yoong(秋蓉姐), made a Mother's Day card for Mr. & Mrs. Rev. Lau

Day +1765 : An evangelical meeting

I am fine today.

Our church held a evangelical meeting tonight with a guest speaker from Taiwan - Pastor Ling He Cheng(林和成传道). There were about 50 people turned up for the event. This was something below our expectation.

Pastor Ling was once gangster and in one occasion, he was pushed by his mate and fell from the upper floor. Since then, he was paralyzed.

He accepted Lord Jesus. His life was transformed. He didn't know music but composed a lot of Christian songs. Not only that, a girl in his church is willing to married him three years also, and now the husband and wife travel to many places to share their life.

We had dinner at Restoran Mao Sang Kor BakuTeh before the meeting

Day +1764 : Almost a disastrous order :-(

I am fine today.

When we were having the Level 1 Emotion Quartet Course last Sunday, I was told by Rev. Lau that our speaker Dr. Kot's birthday fell on that day. We decided to have a very brief celebration for her before the dinner.

In addition to a birthday cake, one of our church committee members, Amy, proposed to purchase some Kajang Satays for everyone who attended the course. As a gluttonous person, I accepted the proposal without much hesitation. I called the Kajang Satay stall owner during lunch time, and no one picked up the call. Immediately, I switched to plan B; ordering the satays through sms, but before that I need to determine the total number of satays we need to order.

After a brief discussion during the lunch, we decided to order three satays for each participant. We had 50 participants, and the total number of satays that we should order was 150, but something went wrong in my mind that the total number became 1500 :-( I told my wife and Rev. Lau that we needed to order 1500 satays; 1000 chicken and 500 beef.

"Yes, we need this amount," said Rev. Lau. I believed he thought that three satays for each participant was not too much, and he trusted my math very much.

My wife did alert me, saying that why should we need so many satays, but my response was that it was not too many, thinking along the line that each one was going to have three satays only.

I sent the sms eventually, ordering 1500 satays. The owner called back and I let Amy to due with him. We confirmed the order. After a while, the owner called back again, and Amy confirmed the order second time.

The lunch was over, and the course continued, but not long after that, Amy came to look for me urgently, asking me why I ordered 1500 satays. What happened was that Rev. Lau told Mrs. Rev. Lau that we ordered 1500 satays, and she realised that something was wrong, and informed Amy. We quickly corrected the order; else we needed to pay more than RM1000 for the satay, and each participant needed to eat 30 satays.

I am trembling hearing Kajang Satay now :-(

Day +1763 : I win!!!

I am fine today.

I won Dr. Liow one badminton match this afternoon with a result of 22 to 20 :-) However, I lost one match to him, so it was a draw :-)

I don't know if the winning can be attributed to the psychological warfare that I mentioned yesterday, but one thing I must tell you is that, I had persuaded my roommate, Kah Kiong, to be my coach. He gave me a simple training session before I played with Dr. Liow. I told Dr. Liow while playing the game that I engaged Kah Kiong as my coach, and he (Kah Kiong) gave me a good training in the room just before the game, giving Dr. Liow more pressure. And perhaps, this is the reason why he lost the game :-)

Anyway, I am working very seriously to master some fundamental skill of the game, and hopefully I can win by skill in future, not by other tricks :-)

Day +1762 : Resort to psychological warfare :-)

I am fine today.

I still cannot win Dr. Leow Hong Too(廖鸿图博士) in our badminton match, and as you know, the Milo didn't work, so I have to find something that works.

Losing games don't feel good. What should I do to win? An idea came to my mind suddenly one day - the worst thing for me is to lose, but I am already losing, so things can't get more worse than what I have now, but situation is other way round for Dr. Liow, he is winning all the time, and thus, he has a situation that is far more worse than now; that is to lose. The conclusion is that I have a better future as I am going to win :-)

With this in mind, I will tell him every time I see him that "I am waiting to win, and you are waiting to lose." Hope this psychological warfare will work :-)

Day +1761 : Level 1 Emotion Quartet Course - Day 4

I am fine today.

The course ended at 4:00pm today. All the participants benefited from the course, and thus, all of us wish to proceed to level 2 which will be arranged later.

Many participants also shared how the course helped them just before the end of the session. Personally, I learned a lot through the course; understanding the principles used to deal with a wounded emotion and also learning and participating in some approaches to express our emotion.

Sharing by some group leaders

Sharing by participants - they are all happy now :-)

And the winner of the quiz is Rose Mary!!!
It's time to thank the organiser - Mrs. Rev. Lau
And not forgetting Rev. Lau who prepared a lot of nice things for us to eat :-)
