Day +993 : Holiday at Tasik Kenyir (9)

I am fine today. Continue from yesterday…

We unloaded our luggage and started to walk toward the resort lobby. The distant between the Jetty and the lobby of the resort was a lot farther than we expected. And the lane leading to the lobby was very hilly too. In the end, we gave up walking and waited halfway for the hotel transport to pick us up.

The view from the hotel lobby is majestic, quite and beautiful. Being awarded the best lake resort of Malaysia, it is no exaggeration at all to say that this is the perfect place for relaxation, escaping the noisy and busy life in the city.

Richard booked two single room chalets, RM250 each per night. These chalets are built on the hill, surrounded with trees. They are just like houses in the jungle. All of these chalets have a balcony with a good lake view.

Numerous jungle inhabitants such as insects and birds tirelessly orchestrating a symphony of nature day and night, drawing us closer to nature.

Joseph and Daniel went to swim in the hotel swimming pool. Adriel was too tried and fell asleep, so she didn’t swim in the afternoon.

Settling everyday meals could be a challenging thing in this remote region. We planned to have dinner at the only food stall which was at the Gawai Jetty about 1 km from the hotel. But just before we went there, we received a call informing us that the stall was closed. It opened until 6:00pm only.

So we had no choice but to have dinner at the hotel. We asked the restaurant to steam the catfishes that we purchased a day earlier. We kept the fishes in a freezer on the houseboat.

As I mentioned earlier, the catfish cost RM15 per kg, but the restaurant charged a cooking fee of RM30 per kg. So the cooking fee doubled the price of the fish :-( I should bring an induction cooker next time and steam the fish myself in the chalet :-)

We asked the restaurant to cook the fish in two flavors. Apart from this we also ordered fried egg and mix vege. Five fried eggs cost RM28 and mix vege for 5 person cost RM32. The rice cost RM3 per plate.

The transport that came to our rescue :-)
