Day +2246 : Melbourne Retreat - Lunch with Rev. Lau's family and visiting Dendenong Market

I am fine today.

After settling down at Rev. Lau's house and enjoying the sweet and juicy homegrown fruits, we went for lunch with Rev. Lau's family members - two sisters, two sister-in-law and one brother. They treated us with a buffet lunch in a restaurant run by an Foochow from China :-)

We visited the Dandenong Market and the Aldi store next to it after the lunch.

Day +2245 : Melbourne Retreat - Rev. Lau's Bungalow

I am fine today.

We reached the airport about 8:30pm yesterday. Both the baggage drop-off counter and immigration counter were clear, so we managed to get to the boarding hall without much waiting.

The flight was slightly delayed, departing at about 11:05pm. It was an 7 hours 40 minutes flight that covered a distance of 6500km with a speed of 850km/h. There is time different of 2 hours between Melbourne and KL, so the arrival was about 8:30am Melbourne time.

It was the end of the Winter in Melbourne. The weather was reported to be 9 to 16 Celsius. It was really cold to us especially when the wind blew.

Rev. Lau and Mrs. Rev. Lau picked up us in the airport. The immigration officer asked me what places would I visit in Melbourne in an attempt to find out if I am really having holiday here. I didn't have an good answer as I really didn't know anything about this. We relied on Rev. Lau completely. So I told the officer frankly that I have no plan but Rev. Lau must have one, and this answer seemed to be good as no further questions were asked :-)

The journey from the airport to their house at Dendenong took about one hour. We will be staying at their house for the rest of our days in Melbourne.

Day +2244 : Melbourne, here I come!

I am fine today.

I am going to Melbourne with Ps. Tan today, taking the 10:30pm AirAsia X flight. We will meet Rev. Lau and Mrs. Rev. Lau who went back to Melbourne to meet his children a week earlier. They are having holiday there. We will be staying at their house.

We planned to have a church co-worker retreat at Melbourne last year and we purchased quite cheap AirAsia X ticket last year.

We will be coming back on Saturday. We hope that we can have a good rest, good fellowship and good payer in the next few days :-)

Day +2243 : Intensive course for Daniel

I am fine today.

Daniel is going to sit for his PMR (Lower Secondary Assessment) exam October. As we didn't send him for tuition and also didn't really monitor his study, he lived a happy-go-lucky life happily for the past few years. As the exam is approaching, he is now facing problem to master his subjects. I engaged my niece Hui Na, who has just completed her study in Bachelor of Education, to be our family tuition teacher to teach him.

While Hui Na teaches Daniel most of the subjects, I am in charge of teaching him Maths and Science. I surprisingly find out that Daniel can't even do the subtraction and multiplication or division that involves bracket. As such, I have to go through with him lesson by lesson and ask him to complete the exercises in the reference book that we use. I have completed teaching him more than 10 lessons for the past one week.

He told me that his maths teacher was on leave for a few months and there was no replacement teacher for this subject. He didn't mention this to us. Perhaps, he was happy that he can enjoy his life without the teacher; no need to attend maths class and not need to do the homework.

Fortunately, he is picking up very fast. In fact I can finish one lesson with him in an hour time. He has to spend quite some time later to finish the exercises. The progress so far is quite good and I hope that he can master the subject before the exam.

After tackling the maths, I have to go through with him his Science subject.

Day +2242 : Batu 14 Puchong Yong Tau Fu

I am fine today.

I brought my family for Yong Tau Fu (酿豆腐) at the famous Batu 14 Puchong Yong Tau Fu yesterday evening. So far this restaurant still serves the best Yong Tau Fu :-)

Not only the adults, the children like the Yong Tau Fu also. Apart from Yong Tau Fu, Adriel and Aaron also like the rendang chicken very much. Compared to eating at other Chinese restaurant, the expense here can be considered cheap, about RM10 per head :-)
